New leadership for Parkmore Community Association

PARKMORE - The Parkmore Community Association executive manager, Brian Robertson has resigned from the association.

Julian Ortlepp, the chairman of the association said Robertson resigned to pursue other business ventures and be closer to his family in the Western Cape.

Brian Robertson moved to the community of Parkmore in 2004 and joined the Parkmore Community Forum committee, as it was known then and took up the Land-Use/Building portfolio under Quinton de Kock’s chairmanship. Shortly thereafter Robertson took over as chairman of the association. “When the association lost its employed administrator, Brian became Parkmore’s first manager, a role that he has filled exceptionally well over the years,” said Ortlepp.

He added that Robertson had been instrumental in creating relationships, networks and interacting with the relevant officials involved in every city council department. “These contacts have made it easier for us to speak to the right people and get a somewhat expedited response from council on relevant issues that affect the suburb,” said Ortlepp. “Over the years he has developed an intimate knowledge of Parkmore and its people, and has become a familiar face within the suburb.”

Robertson has also been directly involved in the fight against crime in Parkmore by managing the day to day operations of the preferred security company. He also took on the roles of deputy chairman of Sandton Community Police Forum, chairman of South African Police Station Sector 3, and represented Parkmore on the Ward 90 committee.

“It goes without saying that the association would not have achieved what it has without the assistance of Brian and we are sad to see him go,” said Ortlepp.

The association will host a public meeting on 17 February at Montrose Primary School, and it will detail the job description and objectives of the executive manager post. “Now is the time to add your input,” said Ortlepp.
