Sandton sees a surge in international business moving in

SANDTON - The Sandton business community has welcomed an increase in international business looking to tap into African markets in the new year.

Sandton business district, known as the richest square mile in Africa, has made progressive strides in attracting international business in the past year.

Rob Baird, public relations officer at Prestige Communications, has stressed the role played by accessibility to resources, the flexibility in business contracts and acquiring office space as key driving factors for many organisations seeking to break into new global markets.

He added that flexibility had been lacking in Sandton in the past and accessibility had been limited, but this has changed due to changes taking place in the business district.

“New developments are opening their doors to meet this demand and international companies looking to expand have taken notice, and are moving in,” he said.

David Seinker, founder of The Business Exchange said global organisations have been attracted to the ability to position themselves alongside major local players in Sandton, and then to be able to gain access to the resources required to enter the African markets.

“In the past the lack of flexibility in terms of rental options…has been a limiting factor for global businesses, but with an increasing amount of such developments being launched, we are seeing an influx in international companies seeking to base themselves in Sandton,” he said.

He added that with the introduction of companies such as The Business Exchange which focuses on flexibility, international companies are able to find areas where flexibility is a part of the package.

Additionally, such companies gain access to necessary resources and services to further entrench themselves in global markets.

“Having a base in which to enter Africa is critical to such global organisations, and Sandton is continuing to tick all the right boxes,” he said.
