Inanda resident prepares for electricity crisis

INANDA - Resident Cherylanne Elshikh believes that if officials communicated the load shedding time frames appropriately, residents would be more understanding and co-operative.

“We would know how to plan our lives around the load shedding if we were given a proper schedule,” she said. “There is no human contact with residents about the matter.”

With news of more power outages to come this year, various Sandton residents are bound to be affected by the power outages in one way or another. “It doesn’t affect me that much,” said Elshikh.

She added that she has gas equipment for light and heat. “I also don’t have a big family that I need to worry about; I don’t have children.”

However, Elshikh said schools and businesses in the area have complained about being affected by the power outages. “It is disruptive for school pupils as well as businesses like hair salons,” she added. “A number of Inanda residents have access to generators, so they are not as affected,” added Elshikh.
