Eskom was expected to provide a detailed finance plan to government outlining how it would manage its cash flow. Many municipalities are not paying their bills making putting Eskom’s financial sustainability at risk.

Reports also stated that Eskom’s liquidity position was also declining due to rising costs, and its reserves valued at R20 billion were under severe pressure.
