Councillors look forward to an exciting new year
SANDTON - This year had its ups and down for Joburg's ward councillors and all of them are optimistic for the new year.

Councillor of Ward 32 Bongani Nkomo said residents in his ward could look forward to returning from holidays to a ward that had not been left neglected over the festive season. “Without giving too much away and creating expectations, residents can also look forward to a series of projects targeted at both young and old, and the uplifting of the community as a whole,” he said.
David Potter, councillor for Ward 102 said, “If the City of Joburg’s capital projects are finally implemented, residents of my ward can look forward to upgrades in the Randburg CBD, the widening of Conrad Drive bridge, and the rehabilitation of the sides which are collapsing on William Nicol Drive.”
The councillors’ hopes and dreams for next year:
Ward 106 – Stephen Moore
“At the moment my hopes are centred on a more responsible local government authorities being able to better control the development in our area. It is negatively affecting everyone who lives in the ward, and there needs to be a better way of doing business that involves residents most affected by decisions.”
Ward 91 – Andrew Stewart
“I desperately want Joburg water to begin laying new PVC water pipes in Strathavon and for JRA to re-surface a number of roads in Athol and Glen Athol. I have also been pushing since 2011 to get the number one sports ground in Alexandra re-vamped.”
Ward 32 – Bongani Nkomo
“My hopes are to build onto the little successes we have achieved over this short period. I would like to see the surrounding businesses participating a lot more within their community, and the community taking a proactive stance with issues that affect them as I have already witnessed in some areas.”
Ward 102 – David Potter
“My hopes and dreams for the coming year are that residents look and log (www.lookandlog.co.za) issues in their suburb. If the City does not know, they likely will not attend to the issues. Further to that, my hope is for every suburb that does not have an active residents association to form one. They are critical for the effective growth and development of a suburb.”
