When he reached the passenger side of the car, the man smashed his window and grabbed the cellphone that had been visible from the window.
The cellphone was a Huawei Ascend valued at R1 200.
Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela confirmed that a case of theft out of a motor vehicle had been opened at the Midrand Police Station and that the case was still being investigated.
