Four armed suspects pounce on motorist

SANDHURST - Four armed suspects robbed a 78-year-old man on Eton Road in Sandhurst.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police said the man was driving a Mercedes Benz and he stopped on Eton Road to pick up a friend of his. “He waited inside the car for his friend to come out,” explained Maphakela.

“Suddenly a blue Lexus 460 with no number plates pulled up next to him and four suspects got out of the vehicle and they were all armed with black firearms,” said Maphakela.

He added that the suspects took the man’s Rolex watch valued at R100 000 as well as his gold cufflinks valued at R10 000. “The men then quickly got back into the Lexus and drove off,” said Maphakela.

He said the man was unable to give a description of the suspects.

No arrests have been made.
