Resident in confrontation with security officer

PARKMORE - Dalecross resident, Lorraine Mutambiranwa was shocked by an alleged incident involving her and an ADT security officer while she was walking in Parkmore.

She explained, “An ADT patrol vehicle was driving towards me. The driver kept on driving until he nearly mowed me down. At that point, I screamed out and pulled a middle finger at him.”

Apparently the security officer then put his car in reverse and backed up till he bumped into Mutambiranwa. “I lost it, I went up to the passenger side window, banged on it and asked him to kill me if that was his wish,” she said.

Clive Humphrey, the ADT central region managing director said ADT was taking the matter very seriously. “We have thoroughly investigated the incident and our findings are that the reaction officer involved had no intent to harm the complainant,” explained Humphrey.

He said Mutambiranwa had been walking in the middle of the road at the time of the incident. “The officer stopped within a safe distance of her to allow her to move out of the way,” explained Humphrey. “The complainant did move onto the sidewalk but was evidently not happy with having to do so as she proceeded to make rude gestures to our officer by showing him the middle finger.”

Mutambiranwa alleged that the driver alighted from his vehicle and shouted at her. “This could have been avoided had the officer rather proceeded on his patrols,” added Humphrey. He added that the officer’s behaviour had been addressed.
