Spud visits fans in Sandton
SANDTON - Spud is back and the movie cast were at the Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton on 15 November to meet their fans.

The girls lined up to get their photos taken with lead actor, Troy Sivan, who plays Spud Milton in the movie. “We are the biggest fans,” said Nondumiso Shange who was standing in line with her sister, Siphile, to get their autographs from Sivan.
“We’ve been standing in the rain waiting to see Troy – we love him,” added Tarryn Low, a fan of Spud who was at the Nelson Mandela Square with her friend Anna Larmuth. Another fan, Marco Pretorius said he had been reading all the Spud books and was very excited to meet the cast and to watch the movie.
The South African film is releasing its third installment, Spud 3: Learning to fly on 28 November, and celebrated by signing autographs for fans and taking selfies.
The new movie is about Spud’s life journey who continues his diabolical stagger through adolescence. He learns one of life’s most important lessons: when dealing with women and cretins, nothing is ever quite as it seems. The year is 1992 and, as always in South Africa, radical change is in the air. The country may be on the bumpy road to an uncomfortable redemption, but Spud is hoping for a smooth ride as he returns to boarding school as a senior.
Instead, he discovers that his vindictive arch-enemy is back to taunt him and that a garrulous Malawian has taken residence in his dormitory, along with the regular inmates and misfits he calls friends. Spud’s world has never seemed less certain; he attempts to master Shakespeare, wrestles constantly with God and the power of negative thinking, and develops an aversion to fried fish after a shocking discovery about his grandmother, Wombat.
