A morning with Mr ADT
MARLBORO GARDENS - The pupils of Nursery of the Vally in Marlboro Gardens were treated to a visit from Mr ADT who taught them about the importance of personal safety.
Johannesburg entertainer Darrin McDowall has been part of the Mr ADT show for eight years and has educated children all over Johannesburg on the dangers of home robberies and stranger dangers. He educates pupils on what they can do to avoid these situations and how to react in dangerous circumstances.
The show is a fun-filled event with Mcdowall using talking puppets to give the pupils a positive environment to learn about the potential dangers around them.
Principal of the nursery, Amina Vally said it was important to make children aware of the crime in Johannesburg.
Managing director of ADT Central Region Clive Humphrey said, “Unfortunately, in South Africa there is no escape from conversations about crime. Children are never too young to be educated and made aware, in a non-threatening manner, of the dangers that exist in our society. They need to be empowered to be able to protect themselves in a dangerous situation.”
He added that McDowall had a fun, friendly way of addressing these pertinent issues. “He has found the perfect balance, as the show keeps the children informed and entertained while reinforcing valuable safety tips.”
