Sandown ‘robbers’ in court

WYNBERG - Three suspects allegedly involved in a robbery in Sandown made an appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates' Court.

Police say the suspects took part in the incident on 11 October, making off with valuables before being apprehended by the Sandton and Midrand police. According to Captain Kym Cloete, spokesperson for the Sandton police, approximately five to seven suspects were involved.

“The suspects entered the house and assaulted the owner before tying him up and making off with valuables including jewellery, watches, iPhones and a laptop,” she said.

Cloete added that the suspects were armed and driving two cars, but police managed to apprehend three suspects who were in possession of the firearms and the stolen property.

The arrested suspects were charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and house robbery. Cloete confirmed that the police were still investigating the matter. More details to follow as they become available.
