Bark stripped off Field and Study Park trees
PARKMORE - Heather Oosthuizen, a concerned Parkmore resident, wants visitors of the Field and Study Park to stop stealing bark from the trees.

A number of the trees at the park have had the tough outer covering layer of the woody stems stripped off, leaving the sensitive parts of the trees exposed.
Oosthuizen believes vagrants who come to the park use the bark to make fire. “I think the people who have outdoor church sermons at the park also use the bark for healing purposes as well,” added Oosthuizen.
She also said, “Not only is this hurting the trees, but it is also dangerous as a fire can easily spread and cause a big disaster.”
Rose Johnson of the Friends of the Field and Study Park said the park needed more security to ensure the safety of its visitors. This, after a number of security complaints following a series of crime incidents reported at the park.
