Captain Kym Cloete, spokesperson for Sandton police, explained that the male suspect was apprehended at 9am on 7 October, and police managed to allegedly link him to the old case.
“The suspect was arrested in Alexandra and was then linked to a burglary incident which took place in Sandton in 1999,” she said.
Cloete said the Sandton Detective Unit, which focuses on linking suspects to old cases, managed to allegedly trace the crime to him.
The suspect is expected to appear at the Alexandra Magistrates’ court on 9 October after which he will be formally charged.
