R4 000 phone stolen at intersection

WOODMEAD - A woman driving alone in Woodmead on 28 September became the victim of a smash and grab at the corner of the R55 and Maxwell Drive.

According to Constable Matome Tlamela, head of communications for the Midrand police, the woman was waiting for the traffic light to turn green at the intersection when she noticed a man approaching her passenger window.

The suspect broke the window and grabbed a Samsung S3 cellphone, valued at R4 000, which was lying on the passenger seat before fleeing the scene.

Tlamela said the damage to the car window had amounted to R5 000.
