Power restored to Gautrain

MARLBORO - The Gautrain tweeted that it lost power to its train between the Marlboro and Park Stations after 8am on 29August but just under an hour later, the trains were back up and running.

UPDATE: 29 August, 2014, 10am – According to reports, a car crashed in to an Eskom line which resulted in the power outage.

Power has been restored to the trains and commuters can again use the trains.

29 August 9.06am:

One of the Marlboro trains stopped on the tacks about 7kms from the Marlboro Gautrain Station. The commuters waited on the train for about half an hour before Gautrain officials told them that the trains had lost power and that they would have to evacuate the trains and walk along the tracks back to the station.

The train stopped by South Road.

Head of Gautrain security Mpho Ramarola said that the customers would e given buses. He confirmed that the trains stopped due to a power outage.

Gautrain organised buses to transport the commuters.

29 August, 8.40am:

A commuter said on of the trains stopped on the tracks by the bridge on approaching the Marlboro station.

The airport line is also affected. It was reported an Eskom line had fallen on the tracks.

The Gautrain issued notice that technicians were working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Many of theGautrain passengers tweeted that many of the stations were packed with passengers and that there was no trains.

There were reports that some passengers that were on-board the train that stopped running had to walk along the tracks to the closest stations.
