UPDATE: Warrant of arrest for Parkmore murder suspect

SANDTON - The Sandton police have issued a warrant of arrest for a suspect implicated in the murder of a female domestic worker in Parkmore.

Captain Kym Cloete, spokesperson for the Sandton police said the suspect was believed to be 29-year-old Tshepo Sempe from Booysens, in Johannesburg South.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Sempe is encouraged to contact the police.

“The suspect is believed to be armed and dangerous, and should not be directly confronted,” said Cloete.

The police have already arrested one suspect believed to be Sempe’s accomplice in the murder of the domestic worker. Cloete said the 33-year-old male suspect was arrested on 15 August in Turffontein, in the south of Johannesburg.

“He appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 18 August, and was remanded back into custody pending a bail application,” explained Cloete.

She said the female domestic worker was an elderly woman whose body was found in the backroom of a residential home in Parkmore where she lived and worked.

“It appeared that she had been stabbed numerous times,” added Cloete.

She said the police were alerted by the gardener who also worked at the residential home.

Cloete explained, “The gardener arrived in the morning to start work. When he rang the intercom he alleged that unknown males opened for him to enter. The suspects told the gardener that the domestic worker had gone to buy food and would return shortly.”

She said the suspects said they were at the residence doing work. “Once the gardener was safely inside the premises, the suspects grabbed him and took him to the deceased. They warned him to be quiet, or else he would also be harmed.”

Cloete added that the gardener was tied up by the suspects. “It seems the gardener was able to flee, and then he alerted the police.”
