UPDATE: Police identify murdered Bryanston woman

BRYANSTON - Police have identified the woman who was stabbed 50 times outside an office complex on Peter Place Road in Bryanston on the evening of 17 August.

UPDATE: 18 August, 10am:

Police spokesperson Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng said, “We can confirm that the woman was of Indian descent and dark in complexion with long hair.”

He confirmed that the police had taken statements from people and were currently investigating the murder. He added that they had no potential suspects as of yet, though reports have stated that the woman was allegedly stabbed by her husband.

Mofokeng said, “We are calling for the local community to bring forth any information they have regarding the investigation.”

ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaark said the woman was barely responsive when paramedics arrived at the scene. He said she later died at Mediclinic Sandton after substantial blood loss.

Police are trying to identify a woman who was found lying outside an office complex on Peter Place Road in Bryanston on the evening of 17 August with 50 stab-wounds to her body.

ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaark said the injured woman was barely responsive when paramedics arrived at the scene. He said she later died at Mediclinic Sandton and the woman had lost a lot of blood.

ER24 Paramedics were called to the scene after a motorist and her child spotted the woman while driving on Peter Place Road.

Vermaark said police were then called to the scene to investigate. Police are still searching for the identity of the woman and ask anyone with information on the incident to come forward.

It is reported that the woman was allegedly stabbed by her husband.
