Vulgar signs spur outrage
SANDTON - A Duxberry resident has expressed outrage towards the "penis enlargement" signage spread across the Sandton area.

The issue of vulgar signage has become a problem all over Johannesburg. The resident said, “You cannot drive on any major arterial roads without seeing this signage plastered on every available object.” He added that the signs have made the Sandton area look “trashy” and that it is inappropriate for children.
Ward councillor of Ward 103, Vincent Earp said, “It’s absolutely ridiculous that there is so much graffiti of this kind plastered on stop signs, robots and election posters.”
Ward councillor of Ward 91, Andrew Stewart said that he has spoken to the Metro police over the past 10 weeks to inquire about their strategy to combat the problem. He added, “I’ve had two occasions where residents have complained about this problem. It’s a blatantly illegal practise and has become an eyesore for residents living in the area.”
Spokesperson for the Metro police Wayne Minnaar said, “I am fully aware of the issue in the Johannesburg CBD and in the past 18 months have made nine arrests in the CBD, Rosettenville, Hillbrow and Roodepoort areas. We will be looking into the issue in the Sandton area.”
And no mention of the vulgar Teazers signage and provocative advertising on massive boards in Rivonia Road? Or do the writer not mind those?
About time!!! The ads on billboards are licensed PMK. Your argument has just been shot down in a single sentence.
P.S. We’re in 2014.
Can we also do something about the atrocious amount of litter on Joburg’s streets? Who gets paid to manage this in the municipality because it seems like people are getting paid to do jack. What a joke! and everyone just sits around and accepts it! Laziness.
