‘Psycho’ driver terrorises runner
PARKMORE - Parkmore resident, Marianna Scott said she was victimised by a motorist while she was taking a run around the neighbourhood.

“I encountered a psycho on the road,” she said. Scott is a runner and on the day of her alleged incident she was running along Ballyclare Drive in Bryanston.
She explained, “A navy blue Mercedes Benz was racing towards me, hooting and intentionally trying to run me over.” Scott said the driver of the vehicle drove on the gravel pavement where she was.
“I was wearing luminous green, it was in the morning, it’s not like I could not be seen,” explained Scott. “I was scared out of my wits. Since then I haven’t been able to run on my own. I don’t feel safe anymore.”
Scott feels motorists are inconsiderate towards pedestrians and runners. “Drivers make it known to you that you don’t belong on the road,” she said.
“Drivers just don’t want to give us way. With all the dug out pavements, there is just no pavement left to walk or run on. We all live in the same space and we need to share it.”
Scott said she felt violated by the whole incident. “It was a harsh reality that I could have not come home,” added Scott. She wants to warn people to be on the lookout. “You can’t rely on people for common decency and respect for life.”
She said she was following up on the incident with the police to find the motorist responsible for the alleged incident.
