Children protest outside USA embassy for release of prisoner
SANDTON - Children protested outside the USA Embassy for the release of an American prisoner.
A small group of children from the organisation Children of Fire are campaigning outside the USA Embassy in Rivonia.
The group are campaigning for the release of Leonard Peltier, an African American who has been in prison for 35 years.
Children of Fire’s Loide Ndemueda said the group had sent letters to USA President, Barack Obama, to urge him to release Peltier.
Peltier was convicted of the first degree murder of two Federal Bureau of Investigation agents in 1977, and sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison.
