Patients nominate nurse for good service
BRYANSTON - Medfem Clinic in Bryanston celebrated one of their nurses on 10 June.

Aylmer Kendrick was awarded the Dean Award (Discovery Excellence Award for Nurses) after patients at the hospital nominated her through the Discovery Health initiative that recognises the hard work of nurses.
This initiative was launched by Discovery Health on International Nurses Day this year.
Kendrick was also awarded R4 000 as a token of appreciation for the high standard of nursing she has provided in her profession.
Rachel Nduku, deputy general manager for hospital risk at Discovery Health explained how Kendrick was nominated. She said, “Hospital patients are given a survey after their stay at the hospital to grade the nurses’ performance. From those results we choose a winner. The results are solely based on the feedback we obtain from patients.”
Kendrick has been a nurse for 40 years and she has been working with Medfem Clinic for 19 years. “I have my patients to thank for nominating me,” she said. “It is nice to have people recognise the hard work nurses put into their profession.”
Kendrick said she has achieved a number of things as a nurse and the best thing about her job is the satisfaction she gets from helping her patients.
