Krejcir’s defense team want case dropped

SANDTON - Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir arrived at Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court on 8 May to face kidnapping and attempted charges.

He was escorted by a group of armed officers into the courtroom and was seen laughing and speaking to his family members. According to the Eye Witness News Reporter twitter page, Krejcir’s defence team argued that the state didn’t give it documents they lawyers asked for, and therefore couldn’t prepare for trial. It also states the defence has brought an application to ask the judge for the case to be taken off the roll.

The Citizen reported that people entering the courtroom were thoroughly searched and members of the media were asked for identification. There were three armed police officers inside and two outside.

Krejcir, Desai Luphondo, Samuel Modise Maropeng, George Jeff Nthoroane, Jan Lefu Mofokeng, and Siboniso Miya made an appearance in court on 6 May. The case was postponed due to the unavailability of a judge.
