Vote early to avoid last minute queues

JOBURG - Voting polls open on 7 May from 7am to 9pm, giving voters 14 hours in which to vote.

Councillor for Ward 106, Andrew Stewart has advised voters to go as early as possible as there was “typically a closing time rush which results in long queues”.

“I would strongly recommend that residents get their voting out of the way earlier on in the day, this way the whole process should take only five minutes,” he said.

He reminded voters to take their drivers licences. Passports will not be accepted as proof of identification.

If a voter has a new smart ID card, they must present proof that they have registered as a voter.
