Sub-station exposed to vandalism
BRYANSTON - WARD 104 councillor Mike Wood is concerned that a sub-station in his ward has been left vulnerable to vandalism.
The sub-station on Logan Avenue in Bryanston Extension 8 is enclosed by an inadequate fence, and tall grass and shrubs abound. Wood said, “I have been requesting that a new fence be placed around the sub-station and for the grass and shrubs to be trimmed.” He said he had contacted City Power and City Parks regarding the matter for years and little to nothing had been done.
Wood said he was surprised to find that a new lock had been placed on the gate, however the fence was still damaged making it easy for anyone to access the sub-station without having to break the lock.
He added that residents have experienced a number of electricity interruptions and the station had been vandalised a number of times. “They lift the top of the sub-station and steal the copper cables.”
No comment was received from City Power and City Parks at the time of publication.
