Hyde Park house robberies on the rise

HYDE PARK - House robberies in Hyde Park are on the rise.

This is according to Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police. “We are appealing to the community to secure their homes,” he said. “A number of house robberies have been reported from sector 3 and 4.”

He said the suspects entered through open doors and windows. He added that two residential homes were broken into in Sector 4. “The police found out that both houses were not properly secured as the suspects entered through an open window and open door,” explained Maphakela.

He encourages the community to attend the sector meetings that tackle issues of crime in the community. Security companies operating in the area are also invited to attend the meetings to exchange information with the police and the community.
