At about 12.30am on 12 March a suspect accessed premises in Gary Road, Rivonia, by jumping over a precast wall. The domestic worker, who was inside the residence, then noticed the stranger loitering in the yard. She pressed the panic button and shortly afterwards the company’s reaction officer Sazi Hlatshwayo arrived at the scene. He apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the Sandton police.
Clive Humphrey, managing director of ADT Central Region, praised the officer for apprehending the suspect. “This illustrates the importance of informing domestic staff about the location of panic buttons and the procedure to follow in the event of an emergency.”
