Coleraine Drive in ruins

COLERAINE Drive is in ruins after the recent heavy rainfall.

More of the road in Riverclub has collapsed into a sinkhole after the road was closed off by the Johannesburg Roads Agency.

Resident Deirdre Thompson said, “We’ve been reporting the matter for years now and they’ve done absolutely nothing. We just have no hope that it will ever get fixed. They keep saying it is the rain but it’s actually bad management.”

Ward 103 councillor Vincent Earp escalated the matter to Vusi Sikhakhane, the roads agency’s regional operations manager. “We are sitting on a time bomb of discontent. Especially when the roads agency was warned of this last year and did nothing,” said Earp.

Sikhakhane, in his response to Earp, said, “This unfortunate situation is receiving urgent attention from the roads agency. This is regarded as an emergency and you will get full feedback very soon.”
