French School takes on Midmar Mile

JOBURG - The Lycée Jules Verne (French School) sent a team of swimmers to take part in the Midmar Mile.

The school was the third school in South Africa in terms of the number of pupils registered to swim, and the first in Gauteng. A total of 55 Lycée Jules Verne pupils, from grades 4 to 12, took part.

The Midmar Mile forms part of the requirements for the Jules Verne Trophy. To win this trophy, pupils need to compete in the following three events:

  •  A bike contest
  •  A swimming contest
  •  A run: 5km, 10km or 21km.

After the Midmar Mile, 26 pupils were still in the running to win the trophy.
