Tamara Dey donates part of wardrobe to Hospice

PARKMORE- The Hospice Wits charity shop in Benmore received a big boost when singer Tamara Dey donated clothes.

When Dey, a performer and fashion icon, dropped off her one-of-a-kind fashion outfits at the charity store, the staff were delighted.

“I support the work they do, they care for individuals and their loved ones at a time when they need it most. Being diagnosed with a terminal illness and the journey one faces has many challenges, being given love and dignity and quality of life each day you are alive is precious. Hospice provides this,” said Dey.

The quirky Parkmore charity shop is full of great second-hand goods. Donations come through the doors daily from generous community donors, and shoppers can bargain-hunt and seek out vintage goods. Hospice sells these items to generate funds to care for their patients and their families.

Parkmore shop manager Anne Marie Smit said, “Without the support and generosity of our shoppers and donors, we would not be able to raise the much-needed funds for our patients and their families”.

“Dey has donated quality items to us and we appreciate her support and charitable awareness,” she added.

The HospiceWits Parkmore shop is situated behind Benmore Shopping Centre, corner 11th Street and Elizabeth Avenue, Benmore. They have nine shops at Hospice Corner in Orange Grove, and another shop that operates on the corner of Juta and Melle streets in Braamfontein.
