Get ready for rates policy review

JOBURG - A rates policy review meeting will take place on 11 February at the Ernest Ullman Park Recreation Centre.

At these annual meetings, the City of Johannesburg reviews its rates policy with the purpose of determining categories of properties, categories of ratepayers, rates thresholds and more.

Ward 102 councillor David Potter said ratepayers and interested parties were invited to the meeting which will take place from 6pm to 8pm at the centre.

“They [ratepayers] are encouraged to get involved in the drafting of the 2014/2015 Rates Policy,” said Potter. “Your suggestions and recommendations are important to us and we are obliged to consult with you in terms of the Municipal Property Rates Act 6 of 2004, with regards to the drafting of the Rates Policy before implementation. We look forward to your valued input and sincerely do hope you will attend.”
