In one of the incidents, a woman left her bedroom window open and later discovered that some of her property had been stolen.
Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police, said the woman found the window bars had been broken after her security company informed her that the alarm went off. “She discovered that her phone was missing and three iPads were stolen. A wristwatch, a DVD player, a handbag and a travelling bag was also taken,” added Maphakela.
In a separate incident, a man woke up in his home in Strathavon to find that his cellphone and laptop had been stolen. “He found the sliding door had been damaged from outside. A tool, suspected to have been used to gain entry to the house, was found outside on the floor. The police took the tool to be dusted for fingerprints,” said Maphakela.
No arrests have been made. “People need to tighten their security and ensure that their doors and windows are secured,” added Maphakela.
