Cerebal palsy residents perform at Forest Farm concert.
BRYANSTON - THE Forest Farm Centre for Adults with Cerebral Palsy held its annual concert.
Despite their severe disabilities, residents danced and sang to an enthusiastic audience of family and friends. The residents were assisted by staff who also participated in this stimulating and emotional event. Residents are encouraged to perform as this helps develop their self-esteem and confidence.
Forest Farm resident Raymond Wasserfall said, “This is the best time of my year as I really enjoy myself on the stage and no-one feels sorry for us.”
The concert was followed by a light lunch where residents and staff socialised with friends and family.

According to managing director of the centre Deon Smith, the support that was received for the concert was “terrific”.
“We are really trying hard to involve the community in our fundraising activities,” he said. “The concert, followed by a raffle, is one of our highlights in the year.” The centre is now in its 45th year of operation, and offers residential and high care facilities to adults with cerebral palsy.
They are running an SMS campaign to support the residents. You can support the centre by sending a blank SMS to 48778 at a cost of R10.
