Man loses R20 in violent robbery

ROBBERS slapped a man and took his R20 in Illovo.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, Bramley police spokesperson said the man was leaving the shops when a red Corsa Opel stopped nearby him. “Two men climbed out of the vehicle and asked him to come closer,” said Maphakela. “One of them was carrying a firearm.”

“He was scared after he saw the firearm and he went closer. He was told to get inside the car and was reluctant to get inside. One of the robbers grabbed his arm and pushed him into the car.”

Maphakela said the man was asked how much money he had on him and he replied he only had R20. He was slapped and searched. After the robbers found nothing else, they took the man’s R20 and he was dropped off in Melville.

Maphakela said, “One man was average height and the other one was tall. They had with them a black and silver firearm. We are appealing to the community to be careful and to always report crime.”
