Connecting citizens with the government

GUESTS joined Deputy President of South Africa Kgalema Motlhante at the Hilton Sandton to discuss the role of Citizens in Partnership with Government.

Chairperson, Dr Bheki Shongwe said the organisation intended to work in partnership with the government and business communities at all levels. “We aim to find solutions to the settlement and entrepreneurial problems facing the country, and to lobby government on important issues that are of great concern to many well-meaning South Africans,” he added.

The organisation’s team was introduced to the guests and the different roles of the departments of the organisation were explained.

Shongwe said the organisation was endorsed by President Jacob Zuma and would be promoted through the media. He added, “Citizens in Partnership with Government aims to ensure that government is in a better position to assist its citizens through a structure that represents them.”

Motlhante said he was proud of the organisation and its initiative to provide a platform for South African citizens to express themselves directly to the government. “Citizens in Partnership with Government does great work,” he said. “It is a wonderful structure that empowers people and builds towards an informed society.”

He said he hoped the organisation would be able to get communities involved in meaningful conversations that would contribute to making the country a better place.
