Dr Seuss comes to the stage

SANDTON actresses Emilie Owen and Schelaine Bennett take part in the National Children’s Theatre show, Seussical Jr.

“Everyone has to come and see it, it is amazing. It is a play for the whole family. It teaches the audience about friendship, acceptance and love,” said Bennett.

Seussical Jr is about Horton the elephant as he finds himself having to protect his tiny friend, JoJo the Who and all the other Whos of Whoville, along with the task of caring for an abandoned egg left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie LaBird while she takes a vacation. Hunters capture Horton and the egg and take them to the travelling circus where the adventure continues.

Owen graduated from Wits University with a degree in theatre performance and Television Production. She has also recently returned from New York after completing her musical theatre intensive course at the Stella Adler Studio for Acting. She has taken part in a range of shows from humanitarian clowning acts with Clowns Without Borders SA, to singing and dancing at Cantare Montecasino.

Through it all she also gives of her time by supporting charities that are close to her heart.
