Business thrives on good leadership

THOUGHT leader, Bonang Mohale engaged guests at Regenesys Business School on the importance of leadership.

The Regenesys Leadership Conversation session with Mohale aimed to provide leadership learning and networking opportunities with influential people from various business, government and development sectors.

Siegie Brownlee, the school’s chief executive officer introduced Mohale and talked about his business triumphs. She said, “It is an honour to have Bonang who is the 2012 Institute of People Management Chief Executive Officer of the year and one of South Africa’s most inspirational leadership authorities.” Mohale is currently the chairman and general manager of Commercial of Shell South Africa, and is chairman of the boards of many of its subsidiaries.

“The job of a leader is to lead,” said Mohale. He believes that all leaders that have been called to lead should ask themselves this question: ‘What pain have I been brought here to cure?’ He said, “Mandela is a good example of this. He brought reconciliation to South Africa.” He added that anyone who felt the need to lead was fit to lead. “The greatest among us lead with the heart of a servant.”

Guests proceeded to engage Mohale on his theories, where various ideas on leadership were shared and exchanged at the end of the session.
