Hyde Park lights up for Christmas

Through painstaking investigation, following up of leads and evidence

Hyde Park Corner’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting event took place at the shopping centre.

The event featured highlights from Cinderella, Carmina Burana, Somebody to Love and more by the Joburg Ballet in the Centre Court. Aspiring young dancers had the opportunity to learn a dance from The Nutcracker with teacher Nicole Ferreira of Joburg Ballet.

A R50 donation allowed access to the children’s activities which included a baking, and arts and crafts workshop. Hello Kitty and Santa made appearances throughout the evening. More than R10 000 in donation fees were raised for the Hyprop Foundation which will be donated to uplift the community.

The lighting ceremony was hosted by singer and programme director Veronique Lalouette, a former South African Idols finalist. Kitty Phetla of Joburg Ballet choreographed a special dance as part of the lighting ceremony.
