Victim Support Unit wraps up a good year

THE Sandton Victim Support Unit celebrated the hard work that their team has put in throughout the year.

All the guests gathered at the Balalaika Hotel on 2 November for their annual end of year breakfast celebration. Among the guests were Sue Egdes, the chairperson of the unit; Wendy Vorster-Robertson, the chairperson of the Sandton Community Policing Forum; and Brigadier Alan Billings of the Sandton police.

“You all make a difference in people’s lives and I want to thank you for all the hard work you have put in throughout this year. Continue making a difference in people’s lives and make the world a better place,” said Vorster-Robertson. Billings added, “Thank you for serving in this community and keep on doing the great work.” Solomon Malatji, the programme co-ordinator for the Alexandra/Sandton cluster, said he appreciated the good working relationship the cluster had with the unit. “I believe that even next year we will have a great working relationship. Domestic violence is a big problem in our area and this unit is particularly important to this community,” he said.

The unit’s Isabel Ferreira officially welcomed Egdes as the chairperson who will lead the unit next year. “You have put in an incredible amount of work already and we trust you as our leader,” she said.
