UPDATE: Man kills himself on Jan Smuts
A MAN died on 1 November after he was knocked over by a truck outside the Hyde Park Shopping Centre on Jan Smuts Avenue.
Colonel Nanda Moodley of the Parkview Police Station said the police believe it was a suicide attempt because the 50-year-old man apparently walked into oncoming traffic. “It is also believed that the deceased was mentally unstable and he had attempted to kill himself before,” added Moodley.
The truck driver (44) was arrested and later released on a warning to appear in court. Further investigations are still underway.
