The trip commenced at the Nelson Mandela Square and Member of the Mayoral Committee for Transport, Christine Walters, said she wanted the invited guests to explore Johannesburg using public transport. The exercise was aimed at promoting Transport Month as well as tourism awareness.
“The objective of this fun exercise was to illustrate how accessible Joburg’s tourism sites, attractions and landmarks are to locals without using their own transport,” said Walters.
The media, private sector tourism and transport stakeholders, as well as local government officials were among the guests invited to take part in the adventure. Teams raced through the city using the different forms of public transport available to get from one place to the next.
During the adventure race the teams made quick stops at various heritage sites in the city. The sites included the Peacemakers Museum at Mandela Square, the Mandela Yard Interpretation Centre in Alexandra, and the market area in Newtown. The adventure race finished at Nelson Mandela’s house in Vilakazi Street, Soweto.
Nice one but the name Ike chukwu is not well written.The correct name is Ikechukwu Okeke, there is no separation Ike and chukwu goes together as one name.
