Back in the saddle for cycle challenge

SANDTON businessman Cyclist Terrence Chowles will participate in his fourth Reach For A Dream Cycle Challenge on 10 November at Waterfall Country Estate, Sunninghill.

Chowles stopped cycling in 1999, but when he read an advert for the Reach For A Dream Foundation, he decided to get back into the saddle.

“I was inspired to make a difference in someone else’s life and to actively contribute to the cause that helps these children reach their dreams. The cycle challenge is a catalyst for me on this journey,” said Chowles.

He signed up for the mountain and road race this year, and trains for six to seven hours a week.

“The primary goal is to complete the 55km mountain race and the 94.7km road race as the sponsorships I am collecting are based on per kilometre completed,” said Chowles.

There is a big cycling community in South Africa and many cyclists support the cause.

“The dream riders group offers a good community feel to the whole experience and it becomes easier to drive the effort to support our chosen cause,” he said.
