Woman dies in car accident, man critical

A WOMAN lost her life and a man was critically injured during the early hours of 7 October after a collision on William Nicol Drive, near Peter Place, Sandton.

Christo Venter, crisis communicator for ER24, said when emergency services arrived on the scene they found the man lying a couple of metres away from the wreck of the passenger vehicle he was driving.

“The passenger, a woman, was found closer to the wreck and nothing further could be done to save her life. She was declared deceased on the scene,” added Venter.

It is believed that both occupants were ejected from the vehicle following the impact into a ditch next to the road. The man was transported to hospital in a critical condition.

It is unknown what could have caused the vehicle to veer off the road and collide into the ditch. Investigations will be conducted by authorities.
