Handbag snatcher nabbed

THE Bramley police arrested a 27-year-old man in possession of stolen property on Marlboro Drive in Sandton.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police said the man grabbed a woman’s handbag.

“She was coming from Wendywood Hospital when she was attacked while walking along Marlboro Drive,” he said. “The woman tried to fight the man off but she did not win. She even asked the man to at least give her back the pills that were inside the bag and the man refused.”

Bramley police officers patrolling the area saw the woman struggling with the man. The man ran away after he saw the police and the police gave chase. Maphakela said, “Inside the handbag there was R140, prescription pills and hospital cards.”

The man was detained at the Bramley Police Station. “He is still in the custody of the police and he will appear in court soon,” added Maphakela.
