Sansui Summer Cup launches in Sandton

The Sansui Summer Cup horse race was launched in Kramerville, Sandton.

The event will be held at the Turffontein Racecourse on 30 November. Johannesburg’s premier equestrian and fashion affair also announced its fashion theme for this year, Colour to Conquer. The face of the cup was introduced as radio, television presenter and producer Azania Mosaka.

According to Mosaka, the Sansui Summer Cup is everything a stylish day at the races should be.

“I’m delighted to be the ambassador of this prestigious event and really look forward to Colour to Conquer in this powerful expression of stand-out style and glorious colour,” said Mosaka.

The event will focus on style and attendees can win a best-dressed award. There will be four categories, Best-Dressed Woman, Best-Dressed Man, Most Stylish Couple and the Most Striking Hat. Mosaka will be wearing an outfit by official designer for the event, Johannes Jacobus Schoeman.

“For fashion, Colour to Conquer is epic. It’s a dare to be different, step out in full-colour and be brave, bright and beautiful,” said Schoeman.

Michael Varney of Phumelela Gaming & Leisure, controls the betting side of the horse race.

“The Sansui Summer Cup epitomises the quality and proud heritage of thoroughbred horse racing in Johannesburg. The campaign captures all the excitement and high stakes that makes the Summer Cup a defining event on the national racing calendar,” said Varney.

The main event has 12 races and features thoroughbreds challenging each other for a stake of R2 million. Rainbows and Smiles, a non-profit organisation providing support to families and caregivers of children diagnosed with cancer will be the benefit charity of the race.

  1. My take on the mater is that this event will be much much bigger than the J&B met we experienced earlier this year. The crowd for this event is much more flamboyant and outgoing. Plus the after party is one that no party person would want to miss out on. The DJ line up is as they say “off the chains”. Even better, for all punter for the event, bookmaker should by now have betting odds for the event. I’m one to lookout for early betting odds and found a great price thus far at Betxchange. And as a new punter with them, you get to qualify for their betting promotion. You are welcomed to check it out, here is the link https://www.betxchange.co.za/horse-race-betting/summer-cup.html
