A bunch of vrot, stinking onions
On 3 September at 3am robbers entered the property of my daughter on Krom Road in Bryanston.

Luckily her domestic worker woke up and managed to alert the family using her cellphone after locking herself in her bathroom. My grandson promptly dialled 10111 and after asking for help, the person taking the call cut him off. Great help when you most need it.
The family then phoned the cell numbers supplied by the Randburg police which supposedly are the numbers of the Sector 5 patrol van and the resident policeman in charge of Sector 5 community policing.
Not one of the cellphones was answered. They then in desperation phoned the Randburg charge office, who reacted swiftly and sent out help. They arrived about seven minutes after the call.
Apparently, their house was one of several in the area that had been burgled that night.
First of all a bouquet of roses to the charge office in Randburg for their prompt assistance. It is very frightening to have intruders in your house and worse if their is no help from an emergency number.
So, to the holders of the cellphones and the 10111 emergency service – I emphasise ‘service’ as the police are there to serve us, not to put the phone down in an emergency – a large bunch of vrot, stinking onions.That is what you deserve.
I hope your commissioner investigates this lack of service to the community.
