Cubs enjoy cycle day and achieving full pontential
Cub Scouts of the Sandton District, along with their families, participated in a cycle day outing at Northern Farms.

About 73 members of the first Bryanston, Morningside, Parkmore, Peter Place and River Trail groups took part.
Two basic routes of six and 12km were provided, while for the more skilled riders there was a 20km course.
Event organiser, Craig Hudson said, “It provides an opportunity for parents to have fun with their children while experiencing the wonderful network of cycling trails that have been laid out on the farm.” After the ride there was also an opportunity for the Cubs to complete their cycling badges. To earn this badge, Cubs had to clean and oil their bicycles, mend a puncture correctly and demonstrate proficiency in riding a bicycle.
The Cub programme caters for boys and girls in the seven to 11 year age group, and provides adventurous outdoor based activities aimed at developing character and self confidence. Once a Cub turns 11 years of age, they join a Scout troop where a more advanced programme of leadership development is provided to help young people to achieve their full potential.
