Brescia House gymnast trains for gold
Lakin Alberts (7), a pupil of Brescia House, won gold at the South African gymnastics national competition at Kempton Park Gymnasium.
Alberts did well in five competitions and came home with four medals.
Alberts trains three days a week for four hours at the Johannesburg Gymnastic Club in Newlands. According to her mother, Wendy gymnastics is a phenomenal sport that helps with body conditioning and self discipline.
“She is the most committed little girl, a shining example of an athlete,” said Wendy. “Her dedication and focus show great strength. She dives for her school and is a powerful sprinter, all of which show elements of control.”
Alberts represents Gauteng in gymnastics and has her heart set on going to the Olympics one day.
