Tree lover mourns for hacked trees
TREE defender, Nicci Robertson is not impressed by the renovations taking place at Bryanpark Shopping Centre in Bryanston.

The centre is currently undergoing a facelift. Management is also expanding some of the shops at the centre and re-paving the parking lot area for their shoppers. But Robertson was less than impressed when she arrived at the centre and witnessed one of the trees being cut down.
“Management decided to cut down the trees in the parking lot to make way for more parking bays,” said Robertson. “I’m a proud defender of trees that make this town bearable.
“This is why when I see trees being hacked down for no good reason it makes me livid.”
Operations manager at the Bryanpark Shopping Centre, Nicolas Christodoulou said they had only re-paved the parking lot area and not expanded. “We removed two dead trees that were lifting the paving because the roots were growing out,” explained Christodoulou. “We’re fixing this place up for the community. I don’t see what the problem is.”
Christodoulou added that the centre would plant more trees in the future.
