South African Arbor Week celebrated by community.

A year has passed since the development of Sandton Central Park by City Parks, Sandton Central Management District, Smile Media and Research In Motion, makers of Blackberry.

The park was created during Arbor month last year for people who work and live in Sandton and has been a great success. Rowan Reiback, managing director of Smile Media said he was thrilled with the park.

“The upkeep and maintenance of the park is done with the help of Blackberry. Everything is coming together and with the advent of spring, it can only get better,” said Reiback.

The trees to be planted on Arbor Day this year are virgilia oroboides or blossom tree, grewia occidentalis or cross berry and barringtonia racemosa, also known as the powder-puff tree. These trees will be planted in different communities by City Parks on 6 September.
