Suspect apprehended in Wendywood

On 24 August at 10.30pm a suspect climbed over a wall into a property in Compton Road, Wendywood.

Fortunately the alarm and beams were activated so he triggered the alarm as he approached the house.

ADT Reaction Officer Xolani Mkhize responded to the scene and found the suspect still inside the property. He apprehended him and the Sandton police were contacted.

The suspect was searched and was found to have a knife and a pair of pliers in his possession.

Clive Humphrey, managing director of ADT Central Region, urged homeowners to set their alarm systems and ensure they were in working order. “This incident proves just how effective alarms and beams can be in deterring criminals. Your alarm system should be tested at least once a month. It is also crucial that you set your alarm when not at home and also at night when you go to bed. It is also a good idea to arm certain zones and beams when

you are at home,” suggested Humphrey.

Humphrey commended Mkhize on the arrest.
